Restore Faded Gelcoat

This project is
typical of what we do here. This
boat was extremely faded and oxidized.
This boat had to be sanded prior to heavy compounding to remove the
years of oxidation. Not all boats have
to go to this extreme, but sometimes it is required. Once the entire boat was sanded and back to a uniform color,
it was buffed out with a very heavy compound multiple times. After that it was buffed again with a
light compound/polish to remove any final scratches and swirl marks. It was then followed with a heavy based
carnauba paste wax to protect the gelcoat and increase the shine. The porthole trim rings were also
painted and the engine compartment vents replaced. This is a labor intensive process, but well worth the final
product.
